Welcome to Finland
The Finnish Association of Municipal Engineering (FAME) has a great pleasure to welcome you to Helsinki, Finland for the IFME World Congress 2012. The Congress will be held at Finlandia Hall Conference and Exhibition Centre June 4-10, 2012.
The International Federation of Municipal Engineering (IFME) is a Federation open to professional municipal engineers and public works professionals through their respective national associations. IFME’s mission since the beginning in 1960 has been to connect all public work professionals (municipal engineers, planners, surveyors etc.), public agencies, organizations, institutions and businesses in order to share knowledge and experiences globally. The aim is to foster continued improvement in the quality of public works and wider community services.
IFME World Congress is held every third year and the last Congress was held September 2009 in Melbourne. Next Congress is in Helsinki, Finland 2012 in cooperation with Tallinn, Estonia and Stockholm, Sweden and the theme of the Congress is “Plan, design, construct and maintain… for a better future”.
Global concerns and challenges in public works are quite similar around the world and we professionals need to share our experiences and learn from each other. This Congress is a good opportunity for learning and provides also great networking opportunities for us all.
We look forward to see you in Helsinki 2012!
Jorma Vaskelainen
